Scope
What is real, what is simulated and what is still experimental.
QMesh is a proof of concept. This page says plainly what it does and does not do, so you can decide whether it fits what you want to build.
What is real, and what is not
| Area | Status |
|---|---|
| Quantum execution | Simulated. Circuits run on Qiskit statevector simulation. There is no quantum hardware control. |
| Peer network | Real software. The coordinator and workers talk over py-libp2p (GossipSub for discovery, streams for reservations and fragments). |
| Local network | In local development the worker peers are started inside the backend process (QB2_LIBP2P_DEV_SERVICE_PEER_COUNT). That is a controlled demo network. An example script (scripts/node-starter-template.py) can start an external node, but QMesh is not a finished open network of third-party nodes. |
| Payments | Testnet and test mode. x402 settles USDC on Algorand TestNet, Stripe runs in test mode, and agent payments use Base Sepolia and Starknet Sepolia. |
| Provenance anchors | Testnet only. Anchoring is off until you set QB2_ANCHOR_NETWORK, and only test networks are allowed (Ethereum Sepolia in the packaged registry). |
| Drug-discovery pipeline | Experimental. Its quantum stages are simulated. It is not covered by these docs. |
What a result proves
A provenance bundle proves that a recorded result has not changed since it was recorded. It does not prove that the work ran on quantum hardware, that the answer is scientifically correct, that a peer was honest, or that stored data stays available.
Authentication
The backend requires authentication by default. The backend/.env.example file sets QB2_AUTH_REQUIRED=false
for local development, which treats every request as a local administrator. Never run a public deployment that
way.
Integrations
QMesh connects to Stripe, Algorand, Chainlink, ENS, Starknet, NEAR AI Cloud, IPFS and more. The
integrations overview lists each one and whether it is in main, in review or only proposed.
Pages describe main. Open pull requests and issues are labelled as plans, not features.
